Chick-fil-a

The other night I decided that Katie and I would have Chick-fil-a for dinner.  An advantage to Katie being older is that after obtaining my order, I can simply hand back her nuggets, fries and drink.  She has no problem juggling all three and eating her dinner in her car seat.   The first time I realized this could be done I felt like yelling from the roof top - victory is mine!!!  Ahh, the simple things that can make life so much easier.

So I start pulling around to the drive thru when I realize that the Chick-fil-a Cow is out front greeting people.  A disadvantage to Katie being older is that she's not a fan of people dressed in costume - of course the cow walks straight to our car, goes right up against the glass and waves at Katie . .who starts screaming in complete terror, Raleigh then proceeds to jump halfway into Caroline's car seat barking - ready to attack the poor cow, Caroline who was soundly sleeping is now hysterically crying as she awoke to a screaming sister and a barking dog in her lap.    And all I wanted was to get a number five, eight pack, value sized with a coke . . . . .

Beautiful Girls

From the time Katie was four to twelve months old, it seemed like I was at the portrait studio every month (probably because I was).  For Caroline I decided to do photographs in six month increments, but instead of going to a studio have a professional photographer come to our home and take the pictures.  The cost of doing this was definetly more, but I'm assuming it's evened out in the end.

So below are Caroline's six month (really 6 1/2)  pictures.  Our photographer actually forgot about our session which led to a lot of tears on my end, a two hour delay, but in the end all was forgiven when I saw the amazing pictures she captured of my girls!  We had lined it up right after coming back from Disney so that Grandma could also take part.

I will treasure this one forever, and amazingly enough, we're all smiling!

Men at Work

Pop Pop very graciously gave up his rest and relaxation over Memorial Day Weekend to come work at our house.  Together with David they finished up the top of our amazing built in cabinetry, while Nana and I played with the girls at the splash park.  The men worked hard and it wielded fabulous results.  It was a great visit all around and our girls enjoyed spending time with their paternal grandparents!  Thanks Nana and Pop Pop!!!!!!

Two Favorite Things (currently) . . .

about our girls:

  1. Katie - When trying to find someone, you call out "Puppy R You?"  "Mommy R You?"  Just so stinking cute!
  2. Caroline - You love shaking your head NO when we talk to you.  You don't yet know the meaning of the word, or what the gesture is . . you simply love to smile and shake your head back and forth . . Daddy and I just love it too!

Ice Cream Sundae Sunday Party

It's been a busy week . . . but then again, when isn't it??  Days like today make it all worth it, the time spent planning something special for my girls!  Under the threat of rain, the weather turned out just perfect, we couldn't have asked for a better time with everyone from the neighborhood and three families from Katie's class.  She was absolutely thrilled and started screaming with joy upon seeing Nelson, Jackson and Sofia.

True to form Katie first had to have some ice cream, but quickly moved on to the water slide, loving every minute (taking lots of snack breaks in between)!

Since we were about to have 21 kids and 15 adults over, I decided that we needed another form of entertainment, especially considering it was so hot - 88 degrees and HUMID.  So I went online and ordered the Little Tikes Rocky Mountain River Race, something that our girls will be able to enjoy for years to come.  It was a complete hit!!!

The two and under crowd!

As mentioned we definitely had a fabulous turn out!

Too much fun, couldn't stay awake any longer . . .

Decorations - Ice Cream Topping Table!

As you can see, it was a hit!  . . with Katie that is . .

So many toppings, so little time!

NKOTB, BSB and Prayers

On Friday I traveled up to Washington, DC to meet nine other gals from the Collington Neighborhood to attend the New Kids on the Block and Back Street Boys Concert.  I will admit . .it was awesome, a great time, an audience filled with women in there thirties singing their hearts out to NKOTB (and BSB).

More importantly I had the opportunity to meet up with Bethany and her two high school friends for dinner!  It's always wonderful to spend time with Bethany and this visit was no exception.   She has an amazing family, that has been challenged yet again by the unthinkable, my thoughts and prayers are with them constantly as they battle through this and come out on top!

We're All Ears

This past Thursday Katie went to the Virginia Ears Nose and Throat Specialists to get tubes inserted into her ears.   She did great waiting an hour before they took her back and although really disorientated on the ride home, once we got home she rebounded like the champion she is!  Hopefully this will help her onslaught of middle ear infections and keep our girl healthy.

Of course the morning of Katie's appointment, Caroline's ear drum burst from her infection.  Luckily she's now on the mend and feeling much better.  Looks like sissy may be following her big sisters footsteps :(.

Below are some pictures before heading to the doctor, all comfy and ready to go . .

Very happy that she was allowed to be out of bed with her "papus!"
